Who we are

We Like Open Mics runs open mic nights across South East London and Kent. It’s run by Olly Andrews, trading as We Like Oliver, who is the data controller for everything described here. For anything on this page, email olly@welikeoliver.com.

If you tell us you’re coming to play

We keep your name, email, and anything else you chose to give us: phone number, what you play, song requests. We use it to plan the running order on the night and to get in touch if something changes. The lawful basis is legitimate interests, ours and yours, in running an evening you’ve asked to perform at.

We delete it 12 months after the night you signed up for. That happens on its own, not when somebody remembers.

If you join the weekly email

We keep your email address and nothing else. No name, no phone number. You have to confirm by clicking a link before we’ll ever send you anything, and ticking the box on the play form is a separate choice from sending the form. The lawful basis is your consent, and that click is the record of it.

Every email has a one-tap unsubscribe. If you never confirm, we delete the address within 30 days.

If you unsubscribe we keep your address on a do-not-email list rather than deleting it. That record is the only thing stopping you being added back by mistake. Ask us and we’ll erase it instead.

Who else sees it

• Convex, where the site’s data is stored
• Amazon SES, which sends our email
• Vercel, which hosts the site
• Clerk, which handles the login for our own admin pages

We don’t sell your details or pass them to anyone else. The venues don’t get a list of who signed up.

Analytics and cookies

We use Fathom Analytics, which is privacy-focused: it sets no cookies, doesn’t track you across sites, and doesn’t collect anything that identifies you personally. That’s why there’s no cookie banner on this site. There are no tracking cookies to consent to.

The only cookies set anywhere are the login cookies on our own admin pages. They’re strictly necessary and a visitor never meets them.

Venue information

Addresses, contact details and descriptions of the pubs come from Google. Ratings shown on venue pages are the venue’s own Google rating, not ours, and are labelled as such.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us holding it at all. Email olly@welikeoliver.com and we’ll sort it out within a month. If you think we’ve got it wrong, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
